Plastic can develop severe tension after machining such as laser cutting and milling. Tension leaves an almost shell on the surface of the plastic and the shell can cause problems if the surface is subsequently provoked with solvents or heat.
Tensions slowly disappear over the course of time.
If tension is creating problems with our processed plastic items, we anneal them in our furnace. The process involves repeated slow heating and cooling which removes all internal tension.
The annealing process can take hours, but if the items are glued or subject to printing subsequently, it is a necessity.
