Standards
RoHS2
The RoHS2 Directive concerns restrictions on the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment sold in the EU after July 2006.
We have obtained statements from our suppliers, all of whom are placed within the EU, that their plastic materials comply with the RoHS2 Directive.
To the best of our knowledge, our raw materials comply with the RoHS directive and does therefore not contain the substances mentioned in the Directive.
When placing an order, we can provide you with a RoHS2 declaration on the compliance of the individual plastic materials with the Directive.
REACH
The REACH Regulation specifies that chemicals and plastics materials may only be used if they are assessed and registered with the EU Chemical Agency ECHA.
Our raw materials are manufactured primarily within the EU and, to the best of our knowledge, comply with the regulation.
When placing an order, we can provide you with a REACH declaration on the compliance of the individual plastic materials with the Regulation.
FCM
As we process and sell materials for food contact, we are registered at - and controlled by - the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, in accordance with current legislation.
You can find our latest control reports from the Food Administration here.
Tracking of materials
If a small piece of plastic is found in the food, it is necessary to be able to track the exact machine, that produced the exact piece of plastic and determine when the production took place.
Example:
Plastic comes from an arm for ejection on a conveyor belt at the abattoir.
The following must then be possible:
- The abattoir must locate the supplier of the conveyor belt.
- The supplier of the conveyor belt must locate the supplier of the arm for ejection.
- The supplier of the arm for ejection must locate the plastic sheet used for manufacturing the arm.
- The supplier of the plastic sheet must locate manufacturer of the plastic sheet.
- The manufacturer of the plastic sheet must locate the machine, which created the plastic sheet and of which ingredients.
- The plastic material should be tested by an authorized laboratory for suitability for contact with food.
- The material now approved for food contact gets a certificate with information regarding how the plastic must be stored, processed, and used.
The following part in the chain must comply with these requirements and issue a document, where it is guaranteed that when the plastic leaves its facility, it is in accordance with the requirements in the certificate. This is called a declaration of conformity.
Complete documentation
Since 2016 all declarations of conformity regarding plastic for food contact must follow the EU directive EU10/2011, enclosure IV and based on the documentation by EU10/2011, article 18.
You will find all relevant documentation of the materials regarding the EU directive EU10/2011 in our range of plastics. It will give you a certainty about the materials application and ability – and of course complete traceability.
Our range of FCM plastics consists of relevant migration test, which makes it fast and easy to determine whether the material is tested in accordance with your requirements. These tests have been carried out at the laboratory of our manufacturer of the raw material.
UL94
To classify the flammability of plastic materials, Underwriters Laboratories in the United States have developed the standard UL94.
The standard classifies the materials according to their flammability in 6 groups from lowest to highest (most flame retardant) levels:
Classification | Description |
HB | Slow burn speed / fire continues |
V2 | The flame goes out within 30 seconds. Drops of burning molten plastic are accepted. |
V1 | The flame goes out within 30 seconds. Drops of melted plastic are accepted but cannot burn. |
V0 | The flame stops within 10 seconds. Drops of melted plastic are accepted but cannot burn. |
5VB | The flame stops within 60 seconds. Drops of melted plastic are not accepted, but fusion of the material is accepted. |
5VA | The flame stops within 60 seconds. Drops of melted plastic and fusion of the material are not accepted. |
Our raw materials are all tested and classified according to UL94. These tests have been carried out at the laboratory of the manufacturer of the raw material.
When placing an order, we will gladly provide you with documents of testing and standard conformance. The classification is also shown in our plastic table.
Other standards
As a subcontractor to different industries, we are familiar with application of many different standards.
These include:
- EMC [Electromagnetic Compatibility]
- Automotive components
- ESD [Antistatic]
- MT [Medical Technology]
