FKM Certification

All plastic that come into direct contact with food must be food approved (FKM) and fully traceable.

Of course, we have the highest possible certification working with food approved materials; an elite smiley.

You can find all our smiley reports here.

Our plastic assortment approved for the food industry further include all relevant test results and migration tests, in order for you to be able to determine whether the material has been tested according to your requirements.

The tests are performed and documented by our raw material supplier - in their lab.

All this makes us a reliable supplier of both raw material and processed products - and we make sure that you receive all the relevant material documentation and certifications.

Why these certifications?

Let's say you find a piece of plastic in your food. The piece of plastic could for instance be from an ejector arm on a conveyor belt in the slaughterhouse.

It is now important that you can trace the piece of plastic back to the machine that manufactured that exact piece of plastic and determine when it was manufactured.

The followíng must now be possible:

  1. The slaughterhouse must be able to track down the supplier of the conveyor belt.
  2. The supplier of the conveyor belt must be able to track down the supplier of the ejector arm.
  3. The supplier of the ejector arm, in this case Induflex, must be able to track down the sheet from which the ejector arm was manufactured.
  4. The supplier of the plastic sheet must be able to track down the manufacturer of the sheet.
  5. The manufacturer of the plastic sheet must be able to track down the machine used to manufacture the sheet and determine what was used to manufacture it.
  6. The plastic material must be tested for its suitability for food contact in an authorised lab.
  7. The plastic, now approved for the food industry, receives a certificate with information on how the plastic must be stored, processed and used.
  8. The subsequent links in the chain must comply to these requirements and issue a document, guaranteeing that the plastic is in compliance with the requirements of the certificat, when leaving the facility.

This document is called a; declaration of conformity.

As of January 2016 ALL declarations of conformity for plastics - specifically for contact with food - must be in accordance with the EU Directive EU10/2011, Appendix IV, and based on documentation acc. to EU10/2011, article 18.

All relevant documentation reg. the EU Directive EU10/2011 is available in our plastic assortment (POM-C, POM-H, PEEK, PC, PET, PE300, PE500, PE1000, PTFE), in order to assure information about usage, capacity, as well as full traceablity of the material.
